Week 2 in the Rocky Mountain Junior Hockey League featured five games and just two winners. Pikes Peak Miners got a sweep of host Steamboat Wranglers while Colorado Rampage took five of six points in their three-game series against the Colorado Thunderbird.

Last week Steamboat defeated the Miners in their first meeting, but the rematch went quite differently. Pikes Peak scored four goals in the opening period on their way to a 6-3 victory Friday. Showing team depth, six different players scored in the game for the Miners including Ian Zaleski (1 goal, 2 assists), Brett Hawkins (1 goal, 1 assist) and Niclas Krarup (1 goal, 1 assist). Spencer Rowlette added two assists as well.

Donald Nordstrom scored two goals for the Wranglers, who outshot Pikes Peak 30-28.

In the Saturday finale Pikes Peak again doubled up on the host Wranglers winning 4-2. Zaleski finished off a five-point weekend with two goals while Hawkins and Krarup added tallies. Goaltender Joseph Chekan stopped 37 shots to earn the victory in net for the Miners.

Colorado Rampage hosted a trio of games in Monument against their rival Colorado Thunderbirds. The series began with a wild shootout which ended in a 6-6 tie. The Rampage pounded 75 shots on the T-birds goaltenders scoring three goals in the third period to send the game to overtime.

Jack Cikra, Eric Wilson scored twice for the home team while Christian Perry netted a pair for the Thunderbirds.

The following night saw the Rampage leaving no doubt, scoring three goals in the opening seven minutes on their way to a 11-3 win. Jack Rousseau and Perry both netted the hat trick plus two assists in the route while Noah Vanderbeck made 35 saves.

Both teams offense slowed in the final game on Sunday with the Rampage coming out in front 3-1. Each team would score in the first, but Rousseau would be the lone goal scorer in the final two periods to seal the victory. Vanderbeck continued his strong play making 39 saves.
